Green Mountain Coffee Roasters announced in a letter dated August 15, 2001, that as of September 9, 2011 it will no longer offer the Timothy’s World Coffee k-cups to the wholesale channel in the United States.

This comes as Green Mountain is adding additional roasters to the lineup like the recent addition of Dunkin Donuts coffee and talks of Starbucks coming on board.

Green Mountain has released the following  list of alternative products to deal with the termination of the Timothy’s Word line. First column is the discontinued Timothy’s product, second and third columns are suggested replacement products.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters has released a new list of  k-cups slated for the chopping block. These k-cup (portion packs) for the Keurig single cup system will soon be discontinued. Products marked with an * are already out of stock on the CoffeeHouseExpress.com store.

Green Mountain Coffee, who owns the Keurig brewing technology and all of the k-cup roasting companies, is in the process of streamlining their  product lines.

Starbucks Pike Place Roast Coffee

In today’s press release Green Mountain Coffee Roasters has announced a partnership with Starbucks Corp. to be the exclusive “Super-Premium Coffee Brand” for the Keurig single serve coffee system. According to the report Starbucks will begin offering branded “k-cups” this fall in retail food and department stores with future plans to make both Keurig brewers and Starbucks k-cups available at Starbucks stores and on their own retail websites.

This marks an important step forward for Starbucks in the single cup coffee retail market. Recent announcements from Starbucks concerning their desire to terminate a relationship with Kraft Foods, who currently distributes Starbucks single cup coffee “t-discs” for the Tassimo single cup machine has left the industry guessing as to the direction Starbucks might take.

Keurig’s proprietary brewing technology now dominates the retail single cup market with well over 180 varieties of coffee and tea available from various roasters. Last year we saw the addition of the Folgers and Millstone coffee brands in retail stores. Starbucks will now add to this ever growing selection with their own premium coffee and teas from the Tazo line.

Announcement of the joint project has caused a surge of both Green Mountain and Starbucks stock.

We recently received notice from Green Mountain Coffee that the price of K-Cups for the Keurig coffee system, will be going up once again.
